SlideShare Downloader Chrome Extension

Download public SlideShare presentations as PDF, PPT, or JPG — straight from the deck page, one click, no copying links. The same honest, no-login tool you use on this site, living in your toolbar.

Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. Zipped because we ship it ourselves — install takes under a minute, steps below.

About the extension

The website's downloader, minus two steps

On the website, saving a deck means: copy the link, open the downloader, paste, click. The extension keeps the same engine and the same rules, but collapses the workflow to: open a deck on slideshare.net, click the toolbar icon, pick a format. That is the whole difference — for the moment you are already reading a deck and just want to keep it.

The design matches this site exactly: the same forest-and-lime palette, the same Inter typography, the same pill-shaped buttons, and full support for your browser's dark mode. It is the tool you already know, not a stranger wearing its logo.

Under the hood, nothing changes about how your files are made. The extension reads the publicly hosted slide images any browser already receives on a deck page, then assembles your PDF or PPTX locally on your device. No uploads, no accounts, no history. The only permissions it asks for are the ability to save files and to read slideshare.net pages — nothing else.

The same honest limits apply: public decks only, and the PPT contains each slide as a full-quality image rather than the author's editable source, which SlideShare only publishes when the author enables its own Download button. The formats guide explains why no honest tool can promise otherwise.

Installation

Install in five steps (under a minute)

  1. 01

    Download & unzip

Click the download button above, then unzip the file anywhere you like — Downloads or Desktop is fine. Keep the folder; the extension loads from it.

  2. 02

    Open chrome://extensions

Type chrome://extensions into your address bar and press Enter. On Edge the same page is edge://extensions.

  3. 03

    Enable Developer mode

Flip the Developer mode toggle in the page's top-right corner. This simply allows extensions loaded from folders rather than the store.

  4. 04

    Load unpacked

Click 'Load unpacked' (top-left), navigate to the unzipped folder, and select it. The SlideShare Downloader icon appears in your toolbar.

  5. 05

    Pin it & go

Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin SlideShare Downloader. Open any public deck on slideshare.net and click the icon.

  6. 06

    Update anytime

New versions ship on this page. Download the new ZIP, unzip over the old folder, then click the refresh icon on the chrome://extensions card.

Using it

Three buttons, same as the website

Download as PDF

The whole deck in one document — one page per slide at full resolution, with a progress bar while your browser builds it. Best for reading, printing, and archiving.

Download as PPT

A .pptx file that opens and presents in PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote. Full-quality image slides, the deck's own aspect ratio preserved.

Download all slides (JPG)

Every slide as a numbered, full-resolution image saved into a 'SlideShare Downloader' folder in your Downloads. Maximum flexibility.

Prefer the website's flow? Everything is still there — the main downloader works with or without the extension installed. Many people use both: the site for pasted links from anywhere, the extension for decks they are already reading.

Trust

What it touches, and what it never will

It does

  • Read slide images from public slideshare.net pages you open
  • Save files into your Downloads folder (when you click)
  • Build PDF and PPT files locally on your device
  • Show you a progress bar while it works

It never does

  • No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind
  • No accounts, so nothing to sign into or leak
  • No server uploads — your files stay yours
  • No access to other websites or your browsing history
  • No private or paywalled content, ever

The full data policy is in the privacy policy, which applies to the extension identically. Copyright rules do too: downloaded decks are for personal use, and authors keep their copyright — the disclaimer has the plain-language version.

FAQ

Extension questions

Is the Chrome extension free?

Yes, completely free with no download limits, no accounts, and no watermarks — the same policy as the website. PDF and PPT files are assembled locally on your device.

How do I install the extension?

Download the ZIP above, unzip it, then open chrome://extensions in Chrome, enable Developer mode (toggle in the top-right corner), click 'Load unpacked', and select the unzipped folder. The SlideShare Downloader icon appears next to your address bar. Installation takes under a minute.

Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store?

Store review takes time, and we would rather ship the tool now. The extension is plain, readable code — you can inspect every line before loading it, which is more transparency than any store listing offers. A store listing may follow later.

Which browsers work with the extension?

Chrome and every Chromium-based browser: Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi all support 'Load unpacked' extensions the same way. Firefox uses a different extension format, so Firefox users should use the website instead.

How is the extension different from the website?

The workflow, formats, and quality are identical. The extension simply removes two steps: when you are already reading a deck on slideshare.net, you click the extension icon and pick a format — no copying the link, no opening another tab. Choose whichever fits how you browse.

Does the extension collect any data?

No. It requests only the 'downloads' permission plus access to slideshare.net pages. It has no analytics, no accounts, and no servers — slide images come from SlideShare's public CDN to your browser, and your PDF or PPT is built locally.

Can the extension download private SlideShare decks?

No, and neither can the website. Private, password-protected, and login-locked decks are restricted by their authors on purpose. The extension only saves what the page already shows to every visitor.

The extension says 'No SlideShare deck on this tab'. What now?

You are on a SlideShare page that is not a presentation — a profile, search results, or the homepage. Open the deck itself (the page with the slide viewer) and click the extension icon again. Or paste the deck link into the website downloader, which gives clearer error messages.

Grab the extension, or use the site — both free.

The toolbar icon saves the deck you are reading; the website downloads any link you paste.
